Library Closing Early Saturday October 25

The New Jim Crow Community Read Book Discussion

On Tuesday, October 28, at 5:30 p.m. Professor Marcel Beausoleil of the Fitchburg State University Criminal Justice Department will lead a discussion of this provocative book. Copies of the book are available at the Library.


After School Crafts Tuesdays at 4 p.m.

Time to get creative! Join our resident artist to create fun things every Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Youth Library. For ages 6-12, no registration required.


Third Thursday Film Series,
Thursday, November 20

Join us on Thursday, November 20, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. for a showing of a 2002 film, based on a true story, about three half-caste Aboriginal girls taken from their mothers and placed in a camp 1500 miles away, to be trained as servants for the Australian elite. A Fitchburg State University professor will lead the discussion following the film. Call the Library for the title of the film. Free and open to all.


Teen Halloween Party Saturday, October 25

Grab your costumes! The Teen Center will host an after-hours Halloween Party on Saturday, October 25, from 5-8 p.m. All teens, 13-18, are welcome for food, a 1985 movie about some kids who find a treasure map, and spooky sounds. Call 978-829-1780 to register (and if you can't guess the movie!) Because the library will be closed, enter through the Youth Library Door.


Film showing: "Featherstone's Flamingo: Pink & Proud" Thursday, November 6 at 7pm

Judith Lindstedt's docufilm about Don and Nancy Featherstone, the artist best known for his 1957 creation of the Pink Flamingo while working for Union Products in Leominster. Music by Rusty Mikes Vintage Blues Band . Light refreshments. Wear something pink!

Learn a Language Online!

We now have a new online program to help you learn a new language. It includes lessons, games, cultural programs, games and interactive quizes. You can learn Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, and even Sign Language. People who want to improve their English can also use it. Check out ROCKET LANGUAGES to learn more about this fantastic program. You will need to log in with your Fitchburg Public Library card number, so have it handy!
